As Alice’s plans came to fruition in Act Three, Erickson’s vocalism became still bolder, the character’s ascendancy crowned by the singer’s rousing top C. Most consequentially, Erickson led her fellow ladies in avoiding confusing The Merry Wives of Windsor with The Taming of the Shrew. Though clearly pleased with the outcome of her quest for retribution, Erickson’s Alice stopped short of gloating, enjoying her supremacy without unpleasantness."

Biography
Soprano and Minnesota native Victoria Erickson’s recent operatic roles include: Nella in Gianni Schicchi (Hometown Opera), Zerlina in Don Giovanni (Off-Brand Opera), Blanche in Dialogues des Carmélites (Saltworks Opera), Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors (Greensboro Opera), Nedda in I Pagliacci (Greensboro Opera) and Juliette in the world premiere of The Eleanors (Savannah VOICE Festival).
As a champion of new works, Erickson developed, wrote the libretto, and sang the title role in the world premiere of The Miller’s Daughter, a musical drama reframing Schubert’s classic Die schöne Müllerin (Iowa State University, Opera Athena) and later revived the performance at the National Opera Association National Conference in January 2025.
As a recipient of the 2023-2024 Respekt und Wertschätzung Grant from the DAAD-Stiftung (German Academic Exchange), she was a Visiting Performance and Research Fellow at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg, Germany, where she served as an Artist-in-Residence in the collaboration between the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich and Really Spicy Opera focusing on creating new and engaging performance works culminating in performances at the US Embassy in Berlin.
Erickson made her international debut with Really Spicy Opera in 2020, performing the title role of Émilie in André-Modeste Grétry's 1781 comic opera Émilie ou la belle esclave in Paris. She then toured Madagascar as a featured artist with Really Spicy Opera. Ms. Erickson also received an Encouragement Award from the 2019 North Dakota-Manitoba District of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and previously received a Colburn Fellowship with SongFest in 2016.
